Text description provided by the architects. The allowable zoning envelope for this 7–story residential building in Brooklyn, NY produces a square shaped massing. Bisecting the façade at the structural midpoint produces two separate volumes with more vertical expression.
Splayed window headers allow more sunlight into the living areas and create shadows which add interest and depth to the façade.
The first floor comprises vehicular access, a residential lobby, bike storage, and mechanical rooms. The upper floors are efficiently planned with a mixture of studio, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom apartments. An outdoor kitchen and lounge area on the rooftop look onto views of Downtown Brooklyn and the Manhattan skyline beyond.
